AI Music Policy
Walled Garden does not ban AI as a creative tool. AI may be used in production, composition, arrangement, sound design, vocal generation, mixing, mastering, or performance, as long as the project is human-led, rights-cleared, and not deceptive.
AI is allowed as a tool. Fake artists, stolen voices, and mass-generated slop are not.
Allowed
- • A real singer sings over an AI-generated or AI-assisted instrumental.
- • A real producer uses an AI-generated vocal with proper rights.
- • A composer uses AI for arrangement, orchestration, sketches, or sound design.
- • AI-assisted mixing, mastering, stem separation, cleanup, or editing.
- • AI-generated elements inside a larger human-directed creative work.
- • Transparent disclosure of substantial AI use, with all voices, samples, and likenesses authorized.
Not allowed
- • Stolen voices or unauthorized voice cloning.
- • Deepfake vocals without explicit permission.
- • Fake AI-generated artist identities pretending to be real people.
- • Anonymous mass-upload AI catalogs and fully automated song farms.
- • Bot-optimized instrumental filler.
- • Deceptive artist biographies, photos, or personas.
- • AI music uploaded at scale primarily to exploit the payout system.
- • Copyrighted material, samples, or datasets used in ways that violate rights.
Disclosure at publish
Before publishing, every release carries a declaration: whether AI tools were used and how, whether any cloned or synthetic voice appears, whether a real person's voice or likeness was intentionally imitated (and with what permission), and confirmation that the release is not part of a mass-generated catalog. Releases that declare a cloned or synthetic voice imitating a real person are verified by a human before payout. Primarily automated releases with minimal human authorship are not eligible for Walled Garden.
